NADRA was established in 2000 to provide integrated homeland security solutions for Pakistan. The citizen database with social indicators and family links was accordingly established. NADRA has successfully issued 62 million Multi-Biometric National ID Cards in the last five and a half years and 4.6 million Multi-Biometric Electronic Passports, containing an RFID chip, facial and fingerprint images of the bearer, PKI and other security features compliant with ICAO standards, since October, 2004. NADRA has developed solutions based on Biometrics and RFID technology and has the largest IT infrastructure in Pakistan with highly qualified technical and managerial resources enabling NADRA to provide customized solutions to any country.
