Milan, May 9, 2005 - Wise Media announces today the agenda of its highly
focused vertical event on the world of electronic travel documents: the Electronic
Passport Forum, to be held in Berlin on May 18th and 19th. The agenda is
published on the official website of the event: www.electronic-passport.com
The decision to move forward with the global shift “from passports to electronic
passports” in order to implement enhanced security capabilities in travel
documents requires dramatic changes in the traditional passport manufacturing
and personalization environment, as well as in a new globe-spanning border
control infrastructure.
The Electronic Passport
Forum focuses on the most relevant issues related to
the introduction of the new biometrics-enabled machine-readable
travel documents. It is the only global event that showcases,
with live demonstrations, the entire lifecycle of our
future electronic passports: from the integrated circuits
and the electronic inlays, to durability tests, passport
personalization and new border control processes.
The event will address a global audience
of industry players involved in the implementation of
electronic passport projects, government representatives
(ministries of interior, border control authorities,
policing authorities, homeland defense and privacy authorities) and state printers,
as well as system integrators involved in the deployment of e-passport projects. The
agenda foresees the contribution from global experts in the areas of manufacturing,
deployment and use of state-of-the-art machine-readable travel documents,
privacy experts, government representatives and security experts. It
is structured to provide answers to the following questions:
• Is interoperability the make
or break factor?
• Do e-passports work in the real world?
• Will e-passports infringe upon privacy?
• What will their lifecycle look like?
• What will e-passports mean for governments?
• What will they mean for the airline industry?
Sponsored by Sokymat, Infineon Technologies,
ACG, Axalto and OMNIKEY, the Electronic Passport Forum
will also showcase electronic passport technology in
action with live demonstrations at the e-Passport Village,
where visitors can meet with exhibitors from all segments
of the electronic passport industry. The list of exhibitors
includes: 3M, Sokymat, Nadra, A4Vision, Digital Identification,
Smartware, Artmann-Consult, Melzer Maschinenbau, Aware,
ACG, OMNIKEY, Brite ID, ArjoWiggins, Formscan, Setec,
Industrial Automation Integrators IAI and Safe ID.
