The
Electronic Passport Forum: Berlin, May 18th and 19th
The most
complete global event on the world of MRTDs
Discover the world of e-passports
at the most complete conference and exhibition on machine-readable
travel documents.
Milan, March 1, 2005 - Wise Media,
the organizers of the ID WORLD International Congress,
announces today the dates and venue of its new highly
focused vertical event on the world of Machine Readable
Travel Documents: the Electronic Passport Forum, to
be held in Berlin on May 18th and 19th.
The decision to move forward with the
global shift “from passports to electronic passports”
in order to implement enhanced security capabilities
in travel documents requires dramatic changes in the
traditional passport manufacturing and personalization
environment, as well as in a new globe-spanning border
control infrastructure.
The Electronic Passport Forum focuses
on the most relevant issues related to the introduction
of the new biometrics-enabled machine-readable travel
documents. It is the only global event that showcases,
with live demonstrations, the entire lifecycle of our
future electronic passports: from the integrated circuits
and the electronic inlays, to durability tests, passport
personalization and new border control processes.
The Electronic Passport Forum is the
ideal venue to pose your questions and seek answers
in an open forum involving global experts in the areas
of manufacturing, deployment and use of state-of-the-art
machine-readable travel documents.
4 hot e-passport topics
The following hot topics will be at the
heart of the discussion at the Electronic Passport Forum:
1) Durability - The embedding of electronic units
into our future machine-readable travel documents implies
significant durability challenges, the expected lifecycle
of electronic passports being a minimum of 10 years.
2) Interoperability - The International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO) and industry associations
are rapidly progressing in the harmonization that is
at the basis of the creation of a global interoperable
border security infrastructure.
3) Privacy - Laying the foundations for our future
personal data collection and management infrastructure,
governments face the challenge of creating the appropriate
legislative environment to protect the fundamental rights
of citizens.
4) Sustainability - The economics behind the
technology shift from passports to electronic passports
are by far more complex than analogous business models
involving the implementation of advanced auto ID.
The Electronic Passport Forum will provide a venue for
discussion of special concerns for vendors across the
entire electronic passport supply chain.
A complete e-passport experience
A two-day conference,
comprising parallel round table sessions and augmented
by interactive networking activities, will involve a
select group of key players in the electronic travel
document industry. These include experts in e-passport
technology, standards and privacy issues, document printers
as well as pioneering end-users of these emerging solutions.
The e-Passport
Village will illustrate the entire lifecycle
of e-passports, showcasing the offerings of some of
today’s leading global suppliers with stable and
proven technology for the creation of durable and interoperable
biometrics-enabled travel documents. Attendees will
observe how key components and processes such as integrated
circuits, inlays, covers, software, data capture processes
and read / write devices come together in the overall
solution.
Live demonstrations
of testing, data capture and border control procedures
will complete the experience.
The Electronic Passport Forum will facilitate
networking opportunities
in an intense, interactive format that will maximize
the potential for achieving your business goals. Technology
panel sessions will be supplemented by opportunities
for one-to-one meetings and discussions in an informal
environment.
