The Citizen ID Forum opens its doors under the patronage of the Minister of Interior of the UAE, H.H. Sheik Saif bin Al Nahyan.

The ID Community was honored by the visit of Prof. Luigi Nicolais, the Italian Minister for Reforms and Innovation in the Public Administration, in the ID WORLD International Congress. Minister Nicolais spoke during the Electronic Passport Forum on November 28 and presented the projects that best illustrate the state-of-the-art infrastructure being deployed in the public administration in Italy in order to better serve its citizens, including the electronic national ID card and the Citizen Card. “We just introduced new technical rules that specify the functionality of the electronic National ID card: not only will it be used as an ID document but also as a credential that allows citizens to access the services provided by the public administration,” the Minister said. “Furthermore, the price of the Electronic Identity Card for the citizen has been reduced to 10 euro.”

Minister Nicolais symbolically handed over the Citizen ID Forum to the government of the United Arab Emirates, represented by H.E. Darwish A. Al-Zarouni, Director General of the Emirates Identity Authority, and Brig. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, General Director Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police, United Arab Emirates. The next edition of the Citizen ID Forum will be organized by Wise Media on February 25-26 in Abu Dhabi with the patronage of the Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheik Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and with the endorsement of the European Commission represented at the ceremony of November 28 by Cecilia Joanna Verkleij, Head of Sector at the European Commission's Directorate-General Justice, Freedom and Security.

Outstanding Success of Electronic Passport Forum V
Istanbul, June 21st-22nd, 2007

The Electronic Passport Forum and Citizen ID Forum opened its doors in Istanbul on June 21st in the presence of Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security Murat Basesgioglu. Endorsed by the European Commission, the first edition of the event outside the EU proved to be a great success with 249 high-profile participants attending the 2-day conference and exhibition.

Murat Basesgioglu, Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security, opened the event by discussing the technology shift that the Turkish government has spearheaded since 2003, aimed at providing citizens with access to a variety of eGovernment services in the fields of customs, social security, education and justice. The Minister also announced the beginning of the electronic ID and social security card project in pilot areas as of July 2007.

The Electronic Passport Forum and Citizen ID Forum welcomed an array of world-class panelists to review the status of the progressive digitalization of Passports, as well as National IDs, Driver’s Licenses, Health Cards, Visas and Green Cards worldwide. These included representatives of Malaysian National Registration Department, the Belgian Ministry of the Interior, US Department of Homeland Security the Dutch Ministry of Justice, Frontex, the Estonian National Certification Authority the German BSI Federal Office for Information Security, the Polish Ministry of Interior, the Belgian FEDICT Public Federal Service, the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs, UK Border & Immigration Agency and the Italian Ministry of the Interior.

Imposing success of the Electronic Passport Forum III Paris, June 8th-9th, 2006

Endorsed by the French Ministry of the Interior, the German Ministry of the Interior, and the European Commission, Wise Media’s Electronic Passport Forum took place on June 8th and 9th in Paris. Results of the Electronic Passport Forum I
Berlin, May 18th-19th, 2005

Government delegates, state printers and technology experts from 36 countries gathered in Berlin on May 18th and 19th to discuss the critical points related to the deployment of the new travel identification credentials of the digital era, including privacy concerns and technical issues such as interoperability and durability. Significant insight into legal and cost issues regarding the roll-out of the new machine-readable travel documents (MRTDs) was also provided during the event.

With 311 attendees, 57 speakers and 19 exhibitors, the event centered around the implementation strategies and the critical technology hurdles involved with e-passport deployments. The Electronic Passport Forum brought together the pivotal players accountable for the success of e-passport deployments.

The discussion on e-passports will continue at the ID WORLD International Congress, the most exclusive networking and knowledge-sharing event involving the opinion leaders and decision makers of the world of RFID, cards and biometrics. ID WORLD 2005 takes place in Rome on November 2-4, 2005.
